PRINT
Pro bono work makes the world go ‘round, and that’s no exception in a vibrant town like Durango. One of my greatest passions is volunteering with local institutions, like Animas High School, Mountain Middle School, The Liberty School, Riverview Elementary School, Community Emergency Assistance Coalition, Powerhouse Science Center, First United Methodist Church and other organizations helps foster a sense of community.
ANIMAS HIGH SCHOOL (SMILEY CAFE LOGO)
Through the LINK Internship Program, juniors from Animas High School are paired with mentors or professionals in their field of interest to connect classroom learning with community involvement. In 2016, I was fortunate to have the talented intern, Maddie Sturm, join me for three weeks. During that time, we collaborated to develop a business identity for local coffee hot-spot, the Smiley Cafe.
MOUNTAIN MIDDLE SCHOOL
Mountain Middle School benefitted from volunteered design time to create a cohesive, professional, established visual identity for their school.
Mountain Middle School (MMS) is a free, public, charter-granted middle school serving sixth, seventh and eighth grade students in Durango, Colorado. The founders of MMS recognized a need in the community for an alternative public middle school that focused on teacher-student interaction, collaboration and problem-solving that incorporates technology in a supportive environment.
CiMiAtch created a special Wolfpack mascot that would both capture the mission of this growing charter school and inspire kids to keep seeking summits in their learning and life adventures. A collaboration with Feeney Architect resulted in a strong, meaningful architectural graphic that visually and structurally represented their culture of excellence: skills that focused on respect and integrity, effort and refinement.
COMMUNITY EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE COALITION
The Community Emergency Assistance Coalition (CEAC) is a collaborative multi-agency effort aimed at providing homeless prevention and community stability through one-time emergency assistance to individuals and families in La Plata/San Juan counties who are facing near-term financial crisis.
CiMiAtch thoroughly enjoyed creating a logo and printed materials for this invaluable organization.
POWERHOUSE SCIENCE CENTER
Who's Your DaddyFest! is a benefit for the Powerhouse Science Center (formerly Durango Discovery Museum). This annual street fair needed a cohesive conglomeration of flyers, posters, postcards, t-shirts, maps and brochures to advertise its dates, sponsors and festival events.
This fundraiser's budget was tight, so CiMiAtch created a strong identity and produced it in black-and-white to keep the printing cost low. For seven years, the Daddy motif remained an energetic silhouette with his ever-present fedora and changing expressions to communicate each year's unique theme.
